Please call me Mary! Most of my patients describe me as personable, energetic and organized. I am extremely passionate about my work as a Naturopathic Doctor, and can relate to my patients because I have had to overcome my own health problems.
I am a board certified Naturopathic Doctor, practicing family medicine, with a special interest in endocrinology (hormone balance) and dermatology.
I completed my undergraduate studies at York University with degree specializations in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Prior to my post-graduate Naturopathic program, I worked in public health and consumer research. My enthusiasm for health promotion and education inspired a career change. I went on to complete the 4-year Naturopathic program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.
My goal as a Naturopathic Doctor is to encourage and educate my patients to be the best version of themselves. I want them to gain a better understanding of WHY they are experiencing their health issues. If you can understand why, you are able to successfully treat the root of the problem.
I am a licensed Naturopathic Doctor. A member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND)
MY FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES
TO DO NO HARM by making use of Naturopathic support that minimizes the risk of harmful side effects.
TO TREAT THE CAUSE OF DISEASE. A symptom is the result of the disease, it is not the disease or the cause. Therefore, suppressing symptoms is not a cure. It is imperative that the root cause of disease is identified and removed in order to heal.
I SEE MYSELF AS NOT ONLY A DOCTOR but also as a teacher. I teach my patients the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine.
THE GOAL IS TO HEAL THE WHOLE PERSON THROUGH INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT. In understanding the unique physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors that contribute to illness, I am able to customize treatment protocols to meet the patient’s needs.
I EMPHASIZE PREVENTION. It is important to assess risk factors, heredity and susceptibility to disease. I recommend appropriate naturopathic interventions to maintain health and prevent illness.
TO SUPPORT THE HEALING POWER OF THE BODY by recognizing and removing obstacles to the body’s inherent self-healing process.
